DNS Stuff
Use the forms provided below to gather DNS or related information for a given domain name, IP address or other data. Some of these tools can be very useful when having problems with your own or another web site.
COMPLETE DNS REPORT
The DNS report will produce a very thorough report of the DNS settings for a domain, finding many common DNS problems. To use it, just enter the domain name that you wish to run the report on (for example, example.com).
Enter a domain name
DNS LOOKUP
This performs a standard DNS lookup, but gives you more information than you normally see. Just enter the domain/host name.
Enter a domain or host name
REVERSE DNS LOOKUP
This test will see if a reverse DNS entry exists for an IP address, and will also show how the entry is found (the route of DNS servers that is taken). If a mail server is missing a reverse DNS entry, other mail servers may reject mail from it.
Enter IP address or host name
TRACEROUTE
This tool will trace the route that a packet takes from our web server to the destination that you enter (either a host name, such as www.example.com, or an IP address).
Enter host name or IP address
PING
Ping checks to see how long it takes packets to get from one Internet host to another. Note that it is highly dependent on the connection speed of both hosts (as well as server load, and the load of routers along the way). Traceroute almost always provides more useful information.
Enter host name or IP address
